Material for switches

Switch points, or switch es are forged, machined and welded to the rail, allowing the deviation of a train, taking it from one track to another.

They can be supplied in the same quality as the rails (R220, R260). The material for the switches must have the same properties as the rails: shock, wear and fatigue resistance.

The high cleanliness of our steel allows us to supply materials for this application and ensure high performance compared with our competitors. In particular, the material for switches is subjected to a set of intermediate machining processes: forging, welding and machine removal to create the needle tip. There are stringent to specification requirements that must be met in order to maximize its safe operation when in use.

The material is supplied in bars 5.4 to 9.8 m in length and in symmetric and asymmetric profiles.
